I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of the
Admiralty to acknowledge receipt of your letter of
the 1st June 1901, No.18622/1901, with enclosure, on
the subject of the Hong Kong Whampoa Dock Co. and
Dock accommodation in Hong Kong.
2. I am to acquaint you for the information
of the Secretary of State that My Lords are awaiting
a reply from the Commander-in-Chief in China as to
the compromise proposed by Mr. W. Keswick, and a further
communication will be made as soon as possible.
3. A reply from the Commander in Chief has
been hastened by cable.
